The word advocacy

We want to boost the visibility of bi+ people and be our voice in the LGBTQ+ community and beyond.

The word community

We want to provide spaces for the bisexual community to come together as their authentic selves.

The word support

We want to offer resources that focus on the needs of bi+ people and empower them to embrace their identities.

Over the years, we've held picnics and breakfasts, workshops, online training sessions, activist skills sessions and community events, undertaken research projects, produced resources, given talks, advised businesses, charites, local government departments and non-profits on best practice with bi+ service users and clients and organised a number of visibility projects. We've provided guidance to writers and journalists, spoken on panels and stages all over England and Wales, and got involved with projects alongside other bi advocacy organisations and groups like Bisexual Index and Bi Survivors Network.

Today we do all that and more. We hold training days for bi+ advocates, provide mentors to aspiring activists, and make it easy to set up a local bi+ meetup group by providing group leaders with the materials and resources that they need to get going for free.

We don’t define ourselves any more narrowly than that because we’ve got our fingers in a lot of pies. From providing coaching on bisexual inclusion to producing a diverse range of booklets, postcards and leaflets, what we’re up to changes from one day to the next.

We support local activists by providing resources for meet-up groups and pride attendance as well as mentoring for individuals and training sessions for bi+ activists, we lobby in the LGBTQ+ community on behalf of bi+ stakeholders and we make sure our community is represented at Pride events nationwide.

We consult on queer issues, conduct research our community (and support academics, non-profits and students that do the same), run at least three social events per year, and work with other advocates and activists to run non-Biscuit branded events.

But that's not all. Biscuit prides itself on being reactive to our communities needs, so we're always listening. We consider it our job to represent your values and interests, so we're always on the lookout for new ways to do that. From great big projects like our billboards for bi visibility day in 2019 to our free #BWithTheT stickers (over 6000 posted so far!) everything we do starts with you.

Biscuit is a bi+ advocacy group that works to support and empower the bi+ community

Here are some of our advocacy highlights…

  • In 2024 we were honoured with a DIVA Award recognising the impact we have had since our launch in 2014

  • In 2023 we worked with six different local Pride organisations to improve their understanding of our community.

  • In 2022 we launched our free Pride Packs and Bi+ Community Group Starter Packs to empower you to build your community locally

  • In 2021, we ran our first Bi+ Pride Picnic alongside Bi Survivors Network, London Bi Meetup Group and Bisexual Index

  • In 2020, we led the project that raised 25 billboards nationwide celebrating Bi Visibility Day

  • In 2019, we co-authored the open letter that began the BWithTheT movement

  • In 2018, we drove the first ever bisexual community float in Pride in London’s parade

  • In 2016, we appeared made our first public appearance, on BBC Woman’s Hour

How do you pay for it all?

Our main source of funding is our merch store on etsy. The cash we raise from selling bi+ goodies covers our everyday running costs and most of our participation in other projects.

When we do need a hand, we usually turn to crowdfunding. Our float in the Pride in London parade in 2018 was achieved this way, and in 2022 we crowdfunded to get five bi+, trans and queer activists from all over the UK to our free activism training in London.

When we've got a new project on the horizon, we'll usually tell our social media first, so be sure to follow us on Threads and Instagram.

As we are not registered as a charity, Biscuit does not to generally receive funding from grant-giving trusts or foundations. We rely solely on the support of people like you.
